Road Closures

Periodic road closures are expected for a construction project along 5th Avenue Drive East and 2nd Street East, occurring from June 17, 2025, through July 11, 2025.

Area businesses will be accessible during these times with detour routes from Manatee Avenue East and 6th Avenue East, with access from 3rd Street East. Minor inconveniences are expected.

9th Ave E between 21st St Ct E and 21st St E will be temporary closed on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Until further notice, 2nd Street West between 6th Avenue West and 8th Avenue West will be closed to through traffic for the construction of the Bradenton Police Department Headquarters.

• The project is ongoing, and surrounding roadways, including 8th Avenue West, will be closed with construction fencing to enhance safety and prevent hazardous conditions for workers.
• Detour signage is in place to guide motorists.
• The roadways are expected to remain closed through 2025.

9th Street West from 6th Avenue West to Manatee Avenue West:

The Florida Department of Transportation has completed changes to the median on 9^th Street West between Manatee Ave West and 6^th Avenue West. 

• The left-hand turn lane for northbound traffic on US 41 Business (9th Street West) at Manatee Avenue/SR 64 has been permanently closed. As an alternative, motorists wishing to travel westbound on Manatee Avenue/SR 64 can turn left on 8th Avenue West, then right onto 10th Street West (or 12th St W or 14th St W), and make a left onto Manatee Avenue/SR 64.

SR 64 from 43^rd Street West to 15^th Street East and from 10^th Street West to 10^th Street East: Construction project: Construction is near completion for the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton.

• Overnight paving will continue as needed.

 

SR 64 (Manatee Avenue) from 10th Street to Braden River: Milling, resurfacing, curb and sidewalk, signal work at three intersections, some pipe replacements and drainage improvements. The project limits cover 3.4 miles. 

• Construction began early January 2025; estimated completion is mid-2025.
• Motorists can expect lane closures overnight, starting after 7:30 p.m. for milling and resurfacing.
• Pedestrians can expect detours throughout the project and are encouraged to use caution.
