Department Information

The Bradenton Fire Department serves all those living in, working in, and visiting the City of Bradenton, operating from three stations, staffed with 63 career firefighters divided among three shifts (24/48). An additional 11 personnel staff the offices of the fire chief, assistant fire chief, administrative support, community risk reduction, and training. The department responds to more than 6,000 calls per year, and operates six basic life support (BLS) engine companies, two aerial ladders, a special operations/technical rescue unit, and marine units. 

The BFD has an ISO rating of 2.

 

City Information:
The City of Bradenton is located on the central west coast of Florida, south of Tampa, along the southern bank of the Manatee River. The county seat of Manatee County, the city was chartered in 1903, and currently comprises approximately 15 square miles with a residential population of about 56,000. 

The city is home to two major hospitals, the headquarters for Champs Sports and Tropicana Products; The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature; and is the winter home and training camp of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gulf beaches are located just minutes away, west on Manatee Avenue.
