Employee Pension Information

General Employees Pension

The City of Bradenton’s general employees have retirement benefits through the State of Florida Retirement System (FRS). “General Employees” are those not covered under either the Police Pension or the Fire Pension plans.
General Employees contribute 3% of their pay to their FRS plan. The city is also required to make contributions to the plan on each employee’s behalf, at rates mandated by the state.
The plan itself is managed by the State of Florida. For additional information about the Florida Retirement System, please visit www.myfrs.com.

Employees’ Defined Benefit Pension Plans have a financial impact on local governments.  In order to provide meaningful information regarding the value of local pension plan assets and liabilities, the state has mandated certain disclosures be made. City of Bradenton employees are covered under one of three (3) separate pension plans. Section 112.664, Florida Statutes, requires the following disclosures related to these plans be made available to the public. To see an actuarial summary fact sheet for local government pension plans monitored by the Florida Department of Management Services, please visit the Florida Department of Management Services
