Schedule: This position is a part time position and a weekday employee.
Supervision Exercised: None
Supervision Received: Works under the direction of and is responsible to the Training and Recruiting Unit Supervisor.
General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is one of training and support within the Bradenton Police Training Unit. The position will be responsible for creating various lesson plans which support specialized and assigned programs within the Bradenton Police department that align with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and best work practice applications. This position will also observe/analyze problems nationally and locally to assist with effective proactive initiatives. Work tasks will involve a wide variety of office organizational skills such as filing, managing and inspecting both digital and paper content as well as a creative aspect for educational lecture and hands on solution-based presentations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in providing and conducting technical and/or training programs and courses.
- Coordinate training to support actionable standardization and guidelines for scenario-based training.
- Work with other divisions on training specifically with FTO issues for field-based training.
- Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect up to date information.
- Assists in maintaining, filing, and retaining training records for accreditation according to Standard Operating Procedures and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Skills and Physical Abilities Required:
- Working understanding of Law Enforcement training requirements and applicable laws to include Florida Department of Law Enforcement classes and certification of classroom instruction.
- Advanced understanding of training needs and the ability to process and manage file forms and other documentation.
- Successful at developing and improving training agendas.
- Knowledgeable in developing, instructing and documenting varies training courses to maintain certification and maintain curriculum standards.
- Clear communication and writing skills.
- Hold and maintain a FDLE certification in Law Enforcement.
- Hold a FDLE certification in General Instructor Certificate, prefer a FDLE certification in a High Liability Certificate.
- Working knowledge of essential computer technology to support working curriculum for training purposes.
Computer Equipment and Software requirements: Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited (2) year college with a degree or 30 credit hours within a degree field. Certified Law Enforcement Officer. Hold a FDLE General Instructor’s Certificate. High Lability Instructor certificate (Driving or Firearm’s Certificate), preferred. Have working knowledge in FDLE courses, certifications and on-line classes.
Environment Conditions: Inside an office and some outside field training.
Pay Grade: 122 Min:$24.68/hour Max:$37.02/hour
