Remembering Former Mayor Willliam "Bill" Evers

MARCH 17, 2025 - The City of Bradenton mourns the passing of former Mayor Bill Evers, a dedicated public servant and lifelong advocate for our community. Bill, who served as Mayor of Bradenton from 1980 to 2000, leaves behind a legacy of leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to the people of Bradenton.
 
From his early days in Cortez to his time as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, Manatee County Sheriff’s Lieutenant, and City Council member, Bill’s dedication to public service was evident in every role he held. His impact extended beyond City Hall through his involvement in organizations like the DeSoto Boys Club, FELT, Inc., and the Salvation Army.
 
In honor of his contributions, the Bill Evers Reservoir proudly bears his name.
 
Bradenton honors his memory, his service, and the countless ways he shaped our city. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him.
