Hurricane Debby Storm Debris Collection
UPDATE 8/28/24: The City of Bradenton’s storm debris removal contractor, DRC, will complete their pass through the city for storm-related debris beginning on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
All remaining Hurricane Debby storm-related debris (vegetative material) must be placed curbside for pick-up no later than 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Please DO NOT use plastic bags. We encourage you to place your storm-related debris curbside as soon as possible.
The Bradenton Solid Waste Division will continue normal blue container yard waste collection operations according to the regularly scheduled collection days.
To help ensure the process goes as quickly and safely as possible, please note the following:
- Only storm-related debris will be accepted; other trash or non-storm-related debris will not be collected by our contractor.
- Sort debris into separate piles. Refer to the attached Sorting Debris Flyer for guidance.
- Hazardous waste (e.g., paint cans, pesticides, motor oil, batteries) will not be collected.
- Do not place storm debris in trash bags or cans. Place debris directly on the right-of-way. If you’ve already bagged debris, please remove it and place it directly on the right-of-way. All green and blue bins placed out for service will continue to be serviced by the City of Bradenton.
- Debris contractors will not enter private property to collect debris.
- If you’ve hired a contractor to remove storm debris (trees, branches, fencing, etc.), it is their responsibility to haul it away.
- We will provide timelines for debris placement and collection. Please monitor the city website and social media for updates.
- Under FEMA guidelines, debris types must not be mixed in the same load. The first pass will only collect storm-related vegetation debris (trees, limbs, branches). Other debris, such as fencing and construction materials, will be addressed in subsequent passes.
Please be patient as contractors complete their first pass through the city for vegetation debris. After this, they will assess the need for a second pass to collect all remaining storm debris. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
