Description: | ||
The City has contracted with Applied Drilling Engineering, Inc. to install a 900 foot deep Class V underground injection well at the WRF, allowing excess reclaimed water produced by the facility to recharge the Upper Floridian Aquifer as an alternative for discharge to the Manatee River.
Purpose: | ||
The injection well will allow up to 10 million gallons per day of fully treated reclaimed water to have greater beneficial use. While some reclaimed water produced by the WRF is used by Braden River Utilities to irrigate Lakewood Ranch, the remainder of flow must be returned to the environment. This project sends our reclaimed water where it is needed most.
