Ward One - Jayne Kocher
Jayne Kocher is more than a popular longtime area realtor. She has extensive experience with the Bradenton Downtown Development Authority, which was an advisory board affiliated with the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency. While she was on the board, Mrs. Kocher helped to guide the revitalization of Old Main Street and contributed her thoughts as the Riverwalk was taking shape. And while there were multiple projects going on at once in the downtown area, she carefully looked out for the interests of local business owners.
Mrs. Kocher says she would like to dive in on issues that affect all the city’s residents – infrastructure improvement, traffic congestion and protecting local water quality.
She has lived on the Gulf Coast since 1978 and carries a special affinity for historic neighborhoods along the Manatee River. She and her husband have restored and renovated properties in some of those neighborhoods. She has also kept busy by giving her time to the Junior League of Manatee County, the Bradenton Kiwanis Club, Leadership Manatee and the city’s Public Art Board.
After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida State University, along with a certificate in Planning Studies, also from Florida State. She also studied at Stetson University.
Mrs. Kocher is a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, has been married for 32 years and has two adult children and three grandchildren.
